Endings
On this page, you will find the complete requirements and instructions for all five Silent Hill: Townfall endings along with their full cutscenes.
Main Endings
For your first playthrough, you can get one of the three main endings – "Abandoned," "Forever," and "Justice" based on the score that you get at the end of the game. The score is determined by the difference between discoveries found (documents and clues) and kills made by Simon, along with several other factors.
For each discovery you find, you get 1 point. In total, there are 85 documents and clues in the game so that you can get a maximum of 85 points.
The things that subtract points from the score are:
- The number of monsters killed by Simon. Each monster costs you 2 points. Now here's where it gets interesting: not every monster counts. Only these monsters contribute to the final score:
- Lunger (the first monster type)
- Sorrowful (monster with the IV line sticking from its chest)
- Motionless (monster that is lying on the ground or lamp posts and grabs you when you are passing by)
- Cannula refills. Every time Simon uses an IV bag to revive himself, it costs 4 points.
- Zoe's mistakes in the surgery room during "The Patient" chapter: wrong vital sign readings, pump setup and failed intubation attempts. Each such mistake costs 3 points. Moreover, if you set the pumps wrong, the game starts a timer, and every 5 seconds costs you another 3 points.
The final formula looks like this:
EndingScore = Discoveries found
+ (Enemies killed × -2)
+ (Cannula refills × -4)
+ (Zoe's mistakes × -3)
Based on this point system, you get one of the three main endings during your first playthrough or if you do not fulfill any special requirements for the bonus endings during New Game+:
- Abandoned: Finish the game with fewer than 0 points.
- Forever: Finish the game with 0-19 points.
- Justice: Finish the game with 20 or more points.
Unfortunately, the game has no in-game tracker for these stats. The final results screen shows cumulative kill count from all three characters, so making sure you are set for a certain ending is not an easy thing (although you can use a mod to show the live tracker if you are playing on PC. And if you are desperate to get all endings, you can use another mod to force any ending).
Abandoned Ending
Requirements:
Finish the game with fewer than 0 points.
Instructions:
This is the bad ending of the game, and to get it, you will need to kill a lot of enemies. You also don't need to worry about getting revived using the IV bags or making mistakes when playing as Zoe. This is also the most probable ending on your first playthrough.
Forever Ending
Requirements:
Finish the game with 0-19 points.
Instructions:
This is the neutral ending of the game and the most difficult to achieve because of the narrow range that you will need to fall into. Do your best to track your points throughout the game (use this mod on PC to help you out), but lean towards the Justice ending to be on the safe side by sparing the enemies. Also, collect IV bags, but do not use them. Make a save before solving the last puzzle, and if you get the Justice ending, reload the save game, kill more enemies and use the IV bag revival a couple of times. If you still get the Justice ending, you need more kills and cannula refills. If you get the Abandoned ending instead, you can try to do fewer of these things.
Justice Ending
Requirements:
Finish the game with 20 or more points.
Instructions:
This is considered the good ending of the game, and to get it, you will want to collect as many discoveries (documents and clues) as possible while avoiding killing enemies as Simon, revivals using IV bags and mistakes in the surgery room when playing as Zoe.
New Game+ Endings
There are two additional joke endings that you can get while playing in the New Game+ mode. For both of these endings, you will need to collect extra items and perform certain actions.
Note: It is easy to get both endings in a single run. After solving the last puzzle in Part 6, save your game and proceed through the game, fulfilling the requirements for the Sci-fi ending, as it comes sooner. Reload the game from the last save, then fulfill the requirements for the Dog ending, proceed to the final boss fight, and upon completion, you will be granted another bonus ending.
Dog Ending
Requirements:- Collect and use three coins.
- Complete the game as normal.
Instructions:
There are three coins that you will need to collect and then put them into the guide dog statues found in the same areas throughout the game:
- Part 1: Arrival. The Bronze Coin can be found on a shelf in the back room of the Video Rental Star in the western part of the South Shorefront district (number 1 on the map).
Insert the coin into the dog statue found next to the Pharmacy in the eastern part of the same area (number 7 on the map).

- Part 4: Clara Woods. The Silver Coin is found at the beginning of the area when you reach the road intersection. From the junction, go right until you reach a dead end and find a fence gate to the right. Proceed through the garden and through another gate to the right, killing a half-dead monster before it attacks you. You will find the coin on a shelf in the shed in the next yard.
Progress through the "Missing Parts" chapter until you obtain the Boltcutters from locker 17. Go to Prosperity Way, then find another dog statue sitting in the laundromat. The front door is locked, so you will have to go around to the south and then into the back alley with the help of the Boltcutters. Go through the back door of the laundromat and insert the coin into the dog statue in the store.

- Part 6: Simon. After unlocking the door to the valve room using the remote systems control console, you can unlock a couple more doors. One of them is room 793 (Regulator Systems). Use the console to input OPEN-DOOR-793 as below.
Descend to the lower level and proceed into the room in the southern section of the area to find the last coin lying on the panel.

Solve the last puzzle of the game and release the clamps on the container. After progressing through the corridors, you will find the last dog statue at the end of the red corridor. Put the Gold Coin into the dog bank.

- Proceed by finishing the game as normal, and you will receive this ending instead of the normal ones.
Sci-fi Ending
Requirements:- Find three Strange Books.
- Collect and use the Strange Access Card.
Explanation:
There are three strange books to be found throughout the game. You will also need to obtain a special access card and use it before the end of the game.
- Part 1: Arrival. You can find the first book at Zoe's house at the start of the game. Go upstairs, enter the bedroom on the right and find Strange Book 1 under the nightstand.
- Part 2: Zoe. After getting the pistol in the Town Square, go to the nearby Haldane Hotel and head to the second floor to find a door with an intricate keypad.
You can learn the combination through the Strange Postcards (though you don't need to collect any to unlock the door). Place the postcards with the stereograms (also known as magic eye) in the order prescribed by the filled squares at the bottom (some cards repeat twice) and study them to reveal the hidden images – you can use the stereogram solver.

- Bird (5 row-1 button)
- Tree (4-2)
- Saturn (2-4)
- Bird (5-1)
- Triquetra (3-2)
- Sputnik 1 (5-4)
- Sputnik 1 (5-4)
- Fish (1-5)
- Rocket (1-3)
- Saturn (2-4)
- Dog (1-1)
- Monument (3-4)
- Part 4: Clara Woods. After the phone call from Richard, head into the store in the southwest of Atlas Square to find Strange Book 2 sitting on a shelf to the left as soon as you enter.
- Part 6: Simon. After unlocking the door to the valve room using the remote systems control console, you can unlock a couple more doors. One of them is room 621 (Valves A-C). Use the console to input OPEN-DOOR-621 as below.
- After solving the last puzzle and releasing the clamps holding the container, proceed through the red corridor down below. As you approach the door at the end of the next corridor, there's a keypad to the left of the door. Use the Strange Access Card on it and enter the door to receive the "Sci-fi" ending immediately after the next cutscene.
Collect the Strange Access Card from the hotel room after unlocking the door.
After completing the "Sci-fi" ending, you will be awarded a new ranged weapon – the Pistol 3000 – in your future playthroughs. This will be found in one of the storage locations in the same area, through the white gate at the beginning of the game, where you find the Axe during New Game+.
