Extras

Accolades

After each completion of the game the player is awarded by Accolades which are rewards earned by successfully accomplishing certain requirements during the walkthrough. In total there are 14 Accolades. Each of them unlocks a custom costume and some Accolades unlock also a special item or weapon. Don't forget to start the new game from the save with an accomplished game to use these extras.

01. Savior

Requirement: Get the Good ending.
Tip: Just beat the game.
Reward: Lonely Moon Gauntlets

02. Butcher

Requirement: Get the Bad ending.
Tip: To get the Bad ending and this accolade you must defeat a lot of enemies during your second or further walkthroughs. For that you should try to kill most of the enemies on your way. The good place for boosting the number of monster kills would be streets of Silent Hill as enemies respawn here. Also Tesla Rifle with an unlimited charge would make getting this accolade much easier, so it's a good idea to get the Ambassador accolade with the UFO ending first.
Reward: Great Cleaver

03. Ambassador

Requirement: Get the UFO ending.
Tip: To get the UFO ending you should obtain the Room 502 Key during your second or further walkthroughs. The key is on top of the staircase next to the Post Office. You can take it in the beginning of the game before entering the Hospital. After that use the key in the Riverside Motel's Room 502 to get the ending and this accolade.
Reward: Tesla Rifle

04. Stalker

Requirement: Use the flashlight for less than 3 hours.
Tip: Quite an easy accolade to get remembering the fact that playing without your flashlight on is much safer. So just make the screen brighter and don't turn the flashlight on.
Reward: Night Vision Goggles

05. Collector

Requirement: Collect more than 300 items.
Tip: You should look for items on your way carefully including various melee weapons and supplies. It's a good advice to explore streets of Silent Hill thoroughly as well.

06. Sprinter

Requirement: Complete the game in less than 2 hours.
Tip: For this accolade you should beat the game fast which is not as tough as you may think. In fact the game can be easily beaten in under one hour. Just grab only the key items avoiding unnecessary exploration. Also getting the UFO ending instead of beating the game to the very end will save you some time as you need only to get to the Motel.
Reward: Travis doesn't get tired while running (with Sprinter Outfit on)

07. Sharpshooter

Requirement: Kill more than 75% of enemies with firearms.
Tip: Kill most of your enemies with firearms reducing the usage of melee weapons and fists to the minimum. When you have no ammo just ignore the monsters. Also try shooting only the weak monsters which don't require a lot of ammo to be killed. Additionally, Tesla Rifle with an unlimited charge will help you a lot in getting this accolade.

08. Weaponsmith

Requirement: Kill more than 75% of enemies with melee weapons.
Tip: Kill most of your enemies with melee weapons. Use numerous melee weapons in the game to beat the monsters saving firearms only for the toughest ones and the bosses. It's a good idea to use the Lonely Moon Gauntlets which you get after beating the game once as they're indestructible and very powerful.

09. Brawler

Requirement: Kill more than 50% of enemies with fists.
Tip: Kill weaker monsters like nurses, straight-jackets and ariels with fists avoiding tougher ones. Keep in mind that stomping the fallen enemy counts as a fist kill as well.

10. Cartographer

Requirement: Look at map less than 25 times.
Tip: Look at the maps on our site and you won't need the ingame maps.

11. Explorer

Requirement: Traveled distance must be greater than 22.5 km.
Tip: You probably will get this Accolade automatically with the Collector Accolade as collecting this amount of items requires quite a lot of running here and there. But you can also roam around the streets of the town to make sure you get this Accolade.

12. Daredevil

Requirement: Complete the game without saving.
Tip: It's really not so hard. You should just avoid dying which means keeping yourself off the unnecessary struggles with the monsters. And once again I suggest getting the UFO ending before getting this Accolade as Tesla Rifle will surely save a lot of your nerves.

13. Fireman

Requirement: Rescue Alessa from the fire in less than 80 seconds.
Tip: You should simply learn all the way in the house to avoid loosing time getting lost and bumping into walls of fire.
Reward: Fire Axe

14. Codebreaker

Requirement: Do the Konami Code during your second or further walkthroughs.
Tip: Input the famous classic Konami Code anytime during your subsequent walkthroughs: ↑, ↑, ↓, ↓, ←, →, ←, →, X, O. If you do it right, you will hear a specific chime, after which you will be awarded with the Accolade's costume immediately.

Extra Options

After beating the game once Extra Options will be unlocked in the menu. Some of these options will ease your subsequent walkthroughs while others will just make it more exciting.

Walk/Run. Turning "Run" on will make you able not to hold the button all the time to run.
Extra Blood. The game will become even more bloody if turned on.
Noise Filter. You can now turn the noise filter off and see how the game looks without it.
Bloody Footprints. Travis leaves bloody footprints wherever he goes.
Torch Projection. You can select a custom projection to replace a plain flashlight beam. Even a smiley face.
