Sakura Head

Sakura Head (also known as Cherry Blossom) is the only monster found in the game. Anita cannot fight it so she must run through the otherworld mazes to escape from it.

The monster's design, created by Masahiro Ito, was inspired by cherry blossom trees while its legs remind of "barnacles on mooring post".

"This "cherry blossom trees as one of horror materials" doesn't mean something like splatter or gore one. It's more "lyrical one". I don't like splatter style, gores or something like these in the first place. Also I don't think that horror title always needs blood".

The monster is a representation of Krysta Planert, Anita's mother. Krysta used to be a single mother abusing both Anita and Anita's brother, which led to his death after having him locked in a closet for more than a day. The mother was arrested after the event while Anita tried to go on with her life and forget this traumatic experience.

Thoroughly supervised by Masahiro Ito, the game's concept artist, this is the first produced statue piece for the next generation of SILENT HILL fans.

The sculpture captures the "fragile beauty" symbolized by cherry blossoms and the "haunting horror" that psychologically drives players in the labyrinth-like underworld.

Great care has been taken in sculpting the body lines and legs to express the beauty that exists within the eerie creature. The base is made in the image of the abandoned apartment building, detailed with sticky notes with curse words scattered on the fence and floor.
