Endings

On this page, you will find the complete requirements and instructions for all five Silent Hill f endings along with their full cutscenes.

Note: Your ending will be locked upon entering the Shimizu residence, depending on the criteria you fulfilled.

Ending 1: Coming Home to Roost

Requirements:
  • Complete the story for the first time.

Instructions:
In your first playthrough, this is the only ending you can get. You will also get this ending in New Game+ playthroughs if you use Red Capsules or don't fulfill other endings' conditions. Upon completing the game for the first time, clues for alternative endings will become available on the main menu.

Ending 2: Fox's Wedding

Requirements:
  • Didn't take the Red Capsules
  • Purified the Sacred Sword, or didn't obtain it
  • Obtained the Agura no Hotei-sama

Instructions:
Start the New Game+ from the clear game file and fulfill the ending's requirements:

  1. Do not consume Red Capsules. Discard and unequip them in your equipment menu to avoid accidentally taking them, and do not collect them throughout the game.
  2. Complete the Sacred Sword Puzzle, or do not obtain the sword. If you aim specifically for this ending only, you don't need the Sacred Sword at all, so you can skip the entire procedure, although, to save you time and see two new full endings faster, you might want to do the puzzle still. To complete the puzzle, you will need to give five offerings to the Jizo statues:
    1. Ebisugaoka Part 1. Find the first offering in the house at the start of the game after playing the treasure hunt game:
      • Pick up the Balcony Key in a crate with a doll inside the second-floor room.
      • Proceed through the balcony door and enter the other room on the second floor. Check a document on a dresser to collect the Treasure Hunting Game Key.
      • Go downstairs and collect the Faded Bride Doll from the small chest in the kitchen storage.

      Go down the mountain and find the first Jizo statue at the bottom of the mountain path. Interact with the statue to give the offering (1/5).

    2. Ebisugaoka Part 2. Head north all the way until you reach the Sennensugi Shrine. You will find the Rusted Flask at a small shrine to the right of the gate.

      Go downhill to the crossroads and take the left turn. Enter the outdoor workshop area and find the second Jizo statue in its back. Interact with the statue to give the offering (2/5).
    3. Ebisugaoka Part 3. Make your way up the stairs around the damaged bridge and pick the Broken Japanese Geta Sandal in front of the construction debris on the other side of the bridge.
      4. Backtrack to the third Jizo statue next to one of the houses. Interact with the statue to give the offering (3/5).
    4. Ebisugaoka Part 4. Once you arrive at Shu's house, find the Cracked Hibachi Brazier behind Shu's workshop.

      Return towards the Hokora shrine to find the fourth Jizo statue halfway down. Interact with the statue to give the offering (4/5).
    5. Ebisugaoka Part 5. On your way down the mountain, find Dad's Old Kitchen Knife stuck in a tree behind one of the houses.

      Go directly west to find the fifth Jizo statue to the left of another house. Interact with the statue to give the offering (5/5).
    6. Once you've completed all five offerings, it's time to come to the divine tree at the forgotten shrine, which is a long way across the forest to the southwest. When arriving, Hinako will find this mysterious sword at the base of the tree.

  3. Obtain the Agura no Hotei-sama in the Hermitage of Crimson Water. Find the new area in the Dark Shrine Main Hall:
    1. Go through the metal door at the start of the area in the southeast corner.
      2.
    2. Go through the door to your immediate left and up the stairs. After fighting the monsters, go through the wall with the Inari-sama seal, using your focus ability.
      3.
    3. Continue the path and you will arrive at the garden with ponds and islands – the Hermitage of Crimson Water. Step inside the building in the center and collect the Hotei-sama sitting Cross-Legged bottle.
  4. Complete the Crimson Water Puzzle and purify the Sacred Sword if you chose to collect it. Note that you must do it before you obtain the sword, as you won't be able to go back to do the puzzle. Solve the puzzle by ringing the three bells in the garden in the correct order – the great stone on the northern island will provide you with the hints:
    1. Stone symbol – the bell on the balcony of the building overlooking the garden.
      2.
    2. Water symbol – the bell on the island with the great stone to the east.
      3.
    3. Tree symbol – the bell across the stone bridge from the previous bell.
      4.
    4. The puzzle will be complete after ringing the final bell, and your journal will get updated. Nothing more to do here, so leave the area and proceed with the game's walkthrough.
    5. Once back in Ebisugaoka and with Sacred Sword in your possession, proceed down the mountain and find an old Oinari-sama shrine in the northwest of the forest. Approach the water basin and interact with it to purify the sword.

After fulfilling all requirements, continue the game as usual, and you will get this ending after the final boss fight.

Ending 3: The Fox Wets Its Tail

Requirements:
  • Didn't take the Red Capsules
  • Obtained the unpurified Sacred Sword

Instructions:
Start the New Game+ from the clear game file and fulfill the ending's requirements:

  1. Do not consume Red Capsules. Discard and unequip them in your equipment menu to avoid accidentally taking them, and do not collect them throughout the game.
  2. Complete the Sacred Sword Puzzle. You will need the unpurified sword so you can skip the Crimson Water Puzzle entirely if you only aim for this ending.

After fulfilling all requirements, continue the game as usual, and you will get this ending after the final boss fight.

Ending 4: Ebisugaoka in Silence

Requirements:
  • Complete two different full endings
  • Didn't take the Red Capsules
  • Purified the Sacred Sword
  • Offered the Brooch

Instructions:
This ending, which is regarded as the true ending of the game, is the most challenging to unlock, as you will have to complete the game at least three times. To achieve it, first, you must complete the game with two different full endings (Ending 1+Ending 2 or 3). Start the New Game++ from the clear game file and fulfill the ending's requirements:

  1. Do not consume Red Capsules. Discard and unequip them in your equipment menu to avoid accidentally taking them, and do not collect them throughout the game.
  2. Obtain the Sacred Sword. Pick up the sword at the second Jizo statue in the crop fields if you completed the Sacred Sword Puzzle in the previous run, or complete the puzzle if you didn't.
  3. Purify the Sacred Sword. After you return to Shu's house, complete the sword's purification ritual at the old Oinari-sama shrine. You don't need to complete the Crimson Water Puzzle if you completed it in the previous run.

  4. Offer the Brooch to the Jizo statue. Finally, on your way to the Shimizu residence, find a well-hidden Jizo statue next to a house on the mountain road. As you go up the stairs, look for the path to the right in front of the house's wooden fence. At the end of the path, you will find the Jizo statue to which you can offer the Brooch.

After fulfilling all requirements, continue the game as usual, and you will get this ending after the final boss fight.

Ending 5: The Great Space Invasion! (UFO)

Requirements:
  • Listened to all the UFO radio broadcasts
  • Found all 3 of the “The Great Space Invasion” movie posters in order after listening to the UFO radio broadcasts
  • Found "The Great Space Invasion" movie review after fulfilling the conditions above

Instructions:
This is a traditional joke ending for the series, and you can easily get this during your New Game+ playthrough:

  1. Listen to the UFO radio broadcast. Although the ending requirement talks about multiple UFO radio broadcasts, there seems to be only one that you are required to listen to to get this ending. After you escape the Fog Monster in the first chapter and proceed through the alleys, you will reach a waterway. Cross the bridge to the north side of the waterway, find a small alley with a light and climb underneath some blocking structure. You will hear a radio crackling up ahead. Go downstairs to the basement, where you will find a radio to listen to.

  2. Inspect all 3 of the “The Great Space Invasion” movie posters in the correct order. After returning to Ebisugaoka from the Dark Shrine Corridors during chapter 5, you will have the chance to find and examine three movie posters. Note that you must do that in a specific order. If you do that correctly, you will see a short cutscene with the UFOs flying in the sky, confirming you are on the right track:
    1. Enter the crop fields to the east. Take the first left, then the second right and go until you hit the T-junction. At the junction, turn right and find the first poster on the south side of a shed in the eastern section of the fields (move the obstacle to access it).
      2.
    2. Find the second poster to the left of the Hokora shrine, just past the bridge.
      3.
    3. Backtrack to the alley near the Chizuruya General Store. Find the third poster on a building at the western alley end, north of the store.
      4.
  3. Find "The Great Space Invasion" movie review. Finally, after examining the last poster, return to the street, where the giant monster is in front of the Chizuruya General Store. You will hear a characteristic sound coming from a toy UFO on a bench on the south side of the street. Examine the article next to the toy, and you will immediately receive this ending.

How to get all endings in three playthroughs

You can get all five endings in three full playthroughs with a minimum amount of replay and unlock the corresponding final boss fight and ending trophies/achievements. To do so:

  1. Complete the game for the first time, and you will get Ending 1.
  2. During the second run, you can get three new endings:
    1. Fullfill all requirements for the UFO Ending. During your third visit to Ebisugaoka, make a game save at the Hokora shrine next to the second UFO poster and continue with the remainder of the conditions to get this ending.
    2. Endings 2 and 3. Reload and continue the game as usual. Complete the Sacred Sword and Crimson Water puzzles during this playthrough. During your fifth visit to Ebisugaoka (on your way to the Shimizu residence), make a game save at the Hokora shrine to a separate slot before the sword's purification ritual:
    3. Complete the ritual and continue to the end to get Ending 2.
    4. Reload from the game save, skip the purification ritual and complete the game again to get Ending 3.
  3. Start the New Game++ and fulfill all requirements for Ending 4.

Note that if you wish to get all five endings in one clear game file, you still need to complete the game five times. Also, the number of complete endings will affect the PP-8001.
