First Details on Silent Hill: Townfall

Februrary 13, 2026

Konami’s latest "Silent Hill Transmission" broadcast has finally provided an in-depth look at Silent Hill: Townfall, the upcoming entry developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn (formerly No Code) and co-published by Annapurna Interactive.

The game moves away from the American town of Silent Hill and takes place in St. Amelia, a coastal town inspired by the fishing villages of Eastern Scotland. The developers stated they utilized the specific "gray and drizzly" atmosphere of the Scottish coast to establish the game’s tone, aiming for a sense of isolation and history.

In a departure from the series' traditional third-person camera, Townfall is confirmed to be a first-person horror experience. The team at Screen Burn explained that this was a deliberate choice to lean into the "what you can't see" aspect of horror, using a more limited field of view to keep players on edge.

Key gameplay features include:

  • The CRTV: Players will use a handheld pocket television known as the CRTV. It serves as a narrative device for discovering story content through frequency tuning and acts as a tactical tool to detect nearby enemies.
  • Stealth and Evasion: While classic weapons like pipes and pistols are available, the developers emphasized that evasion is a core pillar of the gameplay. A new peek mechanic allows players to lean around corners to assess threats before deciding whether to engage or bypass them.

The story follows a new protagonist named Simon Ordell and explores themes of deep-seated guilt. The developers described the narrative as a mystery that requires players to pay close attention to environmental details, all in a tactile and physical way rather than using on-screen HUD elements.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game is being positioned as a full-length title despite Screen Burn’s smaller team size of approximately 30 people. Annapurna Interactive described Townfall as one of the most ambitious and largest-scale games in their publishing portfolio.

Silent Hill Townfall is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, with a release later this year.
